RECOVERY

BY THE

DOZENS

SUMMER RETREAT 2008

Friday - Sunday, June 20-22, 2008

GENERAL INFORMATION

Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions offer us a path to recovery. Slogans warn us “the disease is outside the door, doing push-ups” or “in the library, doing research”. We can live in fear of relapse, or we can live in the Big Book’s promise of a daily reprieve, contingent on the maintenance of our fit spiritual condition. At our June 2008 retreat, we will strengthen our recovery “by the dozens”, with workshops exploring, considering, and taking a close look
at the power of twelve steps and twelve traditions to heal our disease.

We will offer both whole-group presentations and smaller parallel sessions. Every participant will have ample time to share, both within workshops and in breakout groups following larger sessions. On the first night of summer, we will begin around a welcoming campfire. On Saturday night, we will enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship of our talent show. Throughout the weekend, we will have time to sit and chat in an intimate, relaxed country setting, getting to know one another. Strong bonds are forged at Metro Intergroup retreats.

All are welcome! Newcomers to OA frequently find that by being surrounded by others in the fellowship round-the-clock, they feel safe and come to understand program in a deeper fashion. Those who had been struggling have said that attending a retreat was the turning point in their recovery. Long-timers find that retreats give their program a welcome refresher.

Registration must be paid in full and is non-refundable. If for any reason you cannot attend, you are invited to find someone to take your place. Metro Intergroup will maintain a waiting list; however, it is your sole responsibility to find your own replacement and secure payment. We offer the convenience of credit card payment on our www.oanyc.org website. For those who pay by personal check, you are considered registered only when your check has cleared. Bounced checks will incur a $30 service fee.

Because of the intense and intimate nature of the recovery work done on retreats, we cannot accommodate day-trippers.
