“It is sometimes asked which is more important, the Steps or the Fellowship? For me the answer is that the Steps and the Fellowship are like two oars in a rowboat. If I only row with one arm I will go around in circles”. Voices of Recovery August 13
About Us:
The Twelfth-Step-Within Committee is one of several committees of our Intergroup.
Our committee’s purpose is to reach out to those within the Fellowship who still suffer.
“The ‘compulsive eater who still suffers’ isn’t always a newcomer to OA. He or she can also be an established member experiencing difficulties with the disease of compulsive eating or with other problems.” – The Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous, p.148
Are you having a hard time getting abstinent? Feeling like your program has been shaky? In relapse? Reaching out to the Twelfth-Step-Within Committee is a safe, anonymous way to get support. Abstinent members make themselves available to listen; and to share their experience strength and hope. Remember, together we can do what we could never do alone…
“In a time when I was really struggling with compulsive overeating and could not get abstinent no matter how many meetings I went to or fellows I spoke to, I reached out to the OA Twelfth-Step-Within Committee by sending a desperate late night email. I felt my recovery process was hopeless and this was my last attempt to get help. First thing that morning my email was answered and followed up by a phone call. I was not alone, other people had been there and the woman who answered my email was willing to …help me start recovering… I have been abstinent since the first day we spoke and I am working a more spiritual program than ever before. I am so grateful to this program.”
